Mobility Programs

Exchange programs for teachers and employees that combine knowledge, experiences and cultures.

Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences is leading one of the most important foreign science policy projects in the Federal Republic of Germany: the establishment and development of the German-Jordanian University in Amman.

As part of the project, employees and teachers have the opportunity to travel to Jordan through one of the two exchange programs.

All mobility programs promote the exchange of knowledge and experience between GJU and its German partners at various levels. They help to strengthen cooperation and generate new impulses for both sides.

The GJU Visiting Professor Program allows German teachers, preferably from German partner universities, to spend one semester at the GJU to offer courses with a larger proportion of German and an extended range of topics or to carry out their own research project. The prolonged presence of German guest lecturers strengthens cooperation with German colleagues.

The Flying Faculty Program enables German university teachers to teach at the German Jordanian University. This allows stays of up to one week and includes both face-to-face and online teaching formats.

Teaching assignments by the Flying Faculty promote the inclusion of the German language in various teaching formats locally in Jordan and thus make an important contribution to preparing students for the Year of Germany.

The Flying Faculty program also includes courses from industry partners to increase the relevance of teaching in applied sciences and to promote cooperation between faculties and industry.

With the Staff Mobility Program, GJU, together with Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences, offers GJU academic and administrative staff the opportunity for professional development in German partner companies and universities.

The program allows teaching and continuing education stays of one to two months in Germany. It promotes professional exchange and the acquisition of new perspectives, strengthens one's own competencies and creates space for cultural exchange.

By expanding and deepening international contacts and strengthening cooperation with German partners, the German dimension is being strengthened in concrete terms.

In preparation for the GJU Students' Year in Germany, the Study Group Mobility Program is an important part. The Study Group Mobilities for mixed German-Jordanian groups with their application-related annual projects have proven to be a successful model and an attractive offer for German university partners. The research group consists of Jordanian and German students, who are led by teachers from Germany and Jordan. The projects run throughout the year, culminating in direct exchange once a year. The German and Jordanian participants are supported with a trip to the GJU and the German partner university.

The tenders for the coming year are usually made at the end of the year and are published on the GJU website.

The GJU Project Office organizes and finances a five-day delegation trip to the GJU by administrative staff from Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences and individual employees from partner universities. The aim of the trip is both to experience the GJU on site and to get to know the various areas of work that make a particular contribution to the German dimension. There are also individual meetings with GJU employees who work in comparable fields of work, such as the guests from Germany (e.g. IT, HR, university management, international office, etc.) In this way, people get direct contact with GJU employees and their work areas and a better understanding of the otherwise abstract partnership between their own university and GJU.
