MADABA, 29 October 2024 - The German Jordanian University (GJU) hosted its 13th Career Day on campus in Madaba. The aim of the event was to strengthen connections between students, alumni and a wide range of local, regional and international companies. With the participation of over 70 companies, this year's Career Day was a platform for exchange, orientation and career development.

Opening speeches and vision of the GJU

The Career Day was formally opened in the presence of Abdullah Al-Jbour, Assistant Secretary-General for Operations, who represented the Minister of Labour. Prof. Dr Aladdin Al-Halhouli, President of GJU, emphasised in his speech the importance of the event as a key initiative of the university. He emphasised GJU's vision of empowering students to create employment opportunities through innovation and highlighted the role of the Deanship of Innovation, Technology Transfer, and Entrepreneurship (DI-TECH), which supports innovative projects and hands-on learning. Dr Nidal Al-Shawawreh, Dean of DI-TECH, also emphasised the importance of leadership skills and hands-on education to prepare students for the job market.

Involvement of the GJU Project Office and alumni

On the initiative of the GJU Project Office, a delegation of GJU alumni who decided to pursue a career in Germany after studying at GJU also took part. Alumni Reqqa Salem, Razan Al-Masannat, Abdullah Nsair and Zaid Alzubi, together with Student Relations Manager Marie Dierck, represented the Alumni Ambassador Programme and the GJU Alumni e.V., an independently founded association of GJU alumni in Germany. With their personal stories and practical experiences, they were available to answer students' questions about the year abroad in Germany, Master's degree programmes and job prospects.

The alumni provided valuable insights into career opportunities in Germany, from dual degree programmes to long-term employment prospects with German companies. With their participation, they emphasised the strength of the connection between GJU and Germany and actively contributed to promoting the exchange between students and the international working world.

A milestone for networking and career development

The 13th Career Fair once again demonstrated the importance of cooperation between business, the university, and its own graduates. With their experience and expertise, the alumni support the students in finding their way in the international labour market and showed how the combination of practical training and a global network creates career opportunities. In this way, the alumni once again demonstrated their important role as ambassadors for enriching international exchange. Hence the name: Alumni Ambassadors.

The GJU project office would like to thank the participating alumni for their valuable support and looks forward to continuing our successful collaboration in the coming years.
